I've always been a big hole advocate, although there is a special thrill in hooking a fish so large that he doens't fit through the hole and you need to yell to your buddy to bring the chisel!

I remember fishing at Queen Lake when I was a kid and the aged Uncle Teddy got a flag. He proclaimed in his Swedish accent (as if something bad had happened), "Jesus Christ, Robert. I've got a flag". He put down his flask and began the long, slow walk out to his hole. When he got there he discovered that the monster fish had pulled the reel right off of the tilt! I hope that doesn't happen with this one. It should be noted that Uncle Teddy seemed to catch more fish than anyone, proving that once you master the basic skills, fishing is much more about luck than any amount of ambition or determination.
